This 100-year old house was modeled directly after a house in Normandy. The wall material, which was originally white, was grooved to look like stonework.
We painted the walls to resemble faux-stone, using a smooshing technique, and colour-washed the ceilings in a pale shade of the same colour.
Painting the stairwell was a challenge, as it extends 17 feet up above the winding staircase.
The coat room facing the front door (not visible in this picture) was painted with a trompe l'oeil Tuscan scene.
