This basement has become a jungle! The homeowner wanted something bright and cheerful for a low-ceilinged basement playroom. The jungle was painted with layers of transparent latex glazes, with fluorescent acrylic detailing. The paint was manipulated with brushes, fingers, plastic bags and whatever else was at at hand. It started out as a children's playroom, became a cinema room, and has currently morphed into a teenager's den.

The jungle forms a backdrop for dozens of animals, reptiles, birds and butterflies. Parrots fly down the basement stairwell, inviting people to come down with them and join the fun!

In this corner of the room, a gorilla lurks in the underbrush on a sliding door, and a monkey swings through the trees.
